Flavor: Bloody Cherry
What we did:When we were approached to develop a packaging identity for a new cherry liqueur, we didn’t just stop at designing a label—we built the entire brand DNA from scratch.
Looking at the deep, crimson liquid, we created the master brand name Splash.
The word carries an immediate, visceral energy, but it was its unmistakable sonic echo to “slash” that sparked our imagination. In that precise moment of realization, a standard spirit project dissolved, making way for a high-concept branding and storytelling challenge where we also developed the definitive flavor name:
Bloody Cherry.
With the conceptual foundation set, we wanted to build an atmospheric, suspenseful universe that felt entirely unexpected for a spirit brand. We anchored the identity with a striking gothic logotype, featuring textured golden lettering that gleams with an ominous elegance. To bring this world to life, we put pencil to paper, using raw charcoal sketches to map out a dark, graphic novel-inspired narrative set in a bleak, midnight alleyway.
To drive our animated story, we crafted three distinct characters, cleverly personifying the product’s flavor profile directly into the cast. The narrative centers on an elegant, dark-haired lady acting as the apparent victim, whose gown features a stylized strawberry chest. Stalking closely behind her with a raised blade is our villain—a sinister, fanged lemon portraying a surreal, fruit-infused version of Jack the Ripper.
Bringing up the rear, a lone constable sprints through the distant background, desperate to chase down the scene and intervene before it’s too late.
This entire sequence jumps off the sketchpad and onto the glass, where the stark black-and-white illustration is screen-printed directly onto the bottle. This allows the rich, blood-red hue of the liqueur itself to fill in the negative space, serving as the literal color of the night sky.
The narrative comes full circle in the cinematic animation, where the tension builds frame by frame until the lady takes a slow, deliberate sip of the liquid—her eyes flashing a sharp, vibrant cherry red, revealing that she might just be the most dangerous presence in the alleyway after all.
By conceiving the name, the flavor, and transforming the ingredients into classic thriller archetypes, we turned a bottle of liqueur into an unforgettable, immersive brand experience.
