What we did:During the Covid pandemic, we chose to leverage our creative voice to highlight Panda Creative’s social responsibility. Building upon the momentum of two previously successful social awareness campaigns (“What if” & “Thank you”), we developed the pro-bono campaign “Be the Hero”. Our core objective was to spark an individual, deeply personal sense of civic responsibility toward fellow citizens, specifically aiming to protect highly vulnerable groups and the elderly. To maximize public safety awareness and secure a nationwide footprint across Greece, the complete campaign assets were offered entirely for free to the National Organization of Public Health (EODY).
The campaign logotype introduces a modern, high-impact typographic identity that seamlessly merges text with graphic symbolism. The letter “O” in “HERO” is reimagined as a clean, circular minimalist face wearing a protective black mask. This central brand mark is further reinforced by a stylized hashtag emblem preceding the word “THE”, priming the identity for immediate digital and social network deployment.
The visual strategy relies on a distinct, high-contrast palette pairing a vibrant cyan background with sharp black-and-white elements, a design choice engineered for maximum visibility in hectic urban landscapes. The layout methodology pairs black-and-white documentary photography of everyday citizens across generations with bold, clean typography. As displayed across the multi-format urban photos, this creative direction effortlessly translates from colossal residential building banners and interior subway billboards to bus stops, street poles, posters, and digital tablets.
Additionally, a playful superhero sub-narrative was integrated into the street-level banners, superimposing iconic hero masks (such as Spider-Man and Batman motifs) alongside real citizens to drive home the campaign message:
real-life heroism lies in individual public health accountability.
A masterclass in rapid-response social branding, this pro-bono initiative delivered a comprehensive 360-degree advertising machine—spanning television and radio broadcasting scriptwriting, photography, and mass-scale print production—that successfully fulfilled its message of solidarity across every corner of Greece.
